PTC Arbortext Layout Developer 12 is different from DTP applications with its large number of SGML-based automation and syntax features to apply styles. This makes it ideal for emerging markets in STM technical papers and magazines.

- Support for OpenType feature tables – One of the most common requirements over the past 10 years is support for OpenType feature tables. - Support for MathJax library – Another common request is to improve math support, especially MathML. The MathJax web library provides great support for MathML, and now we provide a way to use this library in the Layout Developer to create SVG images from TeX and MathML input.
- Debug improvements – We continue to enhance the debugger to make it a more powerful development environment. In this release, we provide dubugger interfaces for three features that were previously unavailable: Stored object, Page sequence control flow, and Context control thread. These interfaces allow pattern developers to build and manage these core parts of a template in a simple interface.
- Addition to JavaScript support and Format object model – As part of our ongoing development, we have made some updates to JavaScript support. To support MathJax, we updated the add-on libraries by making them JavaScript-friendly. We have also provided a way to use the ‘non-strict’ way of working in JavaScript, and also provide a JavaScript startup file that can be used to run JavaScript code in the Layout Developer at startup.
- Sample event – We have added some events to the fTemplate object that will allow code to be executed when major events occur, such as opening, printing, and changing the page. These events can be used to perform tasks that can be used by other features released in this Layout Developer version.

How to install PTC Arbortext Layout Developer 12
- Turn off anti-virus software (Note also turn off Windows Defender)
- Extract the downloaded software
- Copy the file “PTC.LICENSE.WINDOWS.2019-08-28-SSQ” to drive C
- Running “FillLicense.bat” file will appear “PTC_D_SSQ.dat“
- Copy the newly created “PTC_D_SSQ.dat” file to the “C:\Program Files\PTC” path
- Create Enviroments Variables with PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE = Path to file “PTC_D_SSQ.dat”
- Right-click This PC icon and select Properties > Advanced system settings
Select Enviroment Variables > System Variables > New and fill in - Variables Name = PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE; Variables value = C:\Program Files\PTC \PTC_D_SSQ.dat
- Right-click This PC icon and select Properties > Advanced system settings
- Enter both top and bottom
- Now Mount the ISO file, and run Setup to install the software
- After installation, copy the “PTC Arbortext Layout Developer Win64 12.0” folder to the “C:\Program Files\PTC“
