RipplePro
RipplePro for 3ds Max is a dedicated plugin designed as a powerful modifier, directly integrated into the Autodesk 3ds Max toolbar. This tool was developed to replace and comprehensively upgrade the default Ripple command, which is outdated and lacks flexibility in 3ds Max.
The plugin’s strength lies in its ability to create mechanical wave effects and dynamic water ripples based on geometric mesh structures without needing to run complex fluid simulations. This allows architectural visualizers and game artists to create incredibly realistic water wave movements with minimal file size and fast rendering speeds. See more Project Manager for 3ds Max
Features of RipplePro
- Simultaneous Multi-Center Ripples: Unlike the basic tool which only allows the creation of a single ripple center, this plugin allows users to set up a series of different ripple centers on the same surface. When the ripples intersect, they automatically blend, creating a very natural diffraction and interference effect, similar to raindrops falling on a lake.
- Dynamic Object Interaction: This feature allows the mesh surface to automatically generate waves when another 3D object collides with or moves through it (e.g., a boat cutting through waves on the water or a stone falling onto a buoy). Wakes and ripples are automatically generated in the direction of the object’s movement.
- Advanced Wave Amplitude and Frequency Control: The plugin provides an intuitive slider system for precisely adjusting wave height (amplitude), wavelength, propagation speed (decay), and wave decay over distance, allowing artists to easily customize effects ranging from calm lake surfaces to turbulent ocean waves.
- Texture Map Driven Support: Users can utilize grayscale maps or noise maps to control the wave’s impact area. This feature creates naturally undulating waves in the middle of a lake that are calm and gradually diminish as they approach the rocky shore.
- High performance and real-time display (Viewport Preview): Thanks to deep optimization algorithms in the graphics core, any changes in parameters or wave movements are smoothly displayed on the 3ds Max workspace (Viewport) without lag, helping artists save maximum time in adjusting keyframes.
