Duik Angela
Duik is a comprehensive scripting suite for After Effects, developed by Nicolas Dufresne and the RxLaboratory (Rainbox) team. Its main functions are rigging (creating a skeletal system to control character movements) and animation (supporting animation).
Previously, Duik Bassel was a huge success. However, as projects became more complex, Bassel began to show its cumbersome nature. Duik Angela emerged as a revolution. It was almost completely rewritten to be lighter, faster, and smarter.
The name “Angela” is chosen in memory of Angela Davis – a renowned human rights activist, continuing Duik’s tradition of naming characters after historical figures. This reflects the development team’s philosophy: Freedom and dedication to the community (Open Source).
With Duik Angela, animators can create complex rigs, control joints and deformations, create inverse kinematics (IK) systems, and manage the overall animation process with precision. The plugin provides a user-friendly interface and a wide range of options to customize and refine character movements. Features of Duik Angela

- Next-Generation Bone System
- In Duik Angela, bone creation is more intuitive than ever. You no longer need to create empty Shape Layers for joints. Duik provides pre-built “Structures” for: Hominoids, Quadrupeds, Wings, Tails, etc. Simply drag the joint points to the correct positions on your character’s drawing, press the “Auto-Rig” button, and Duik will automatically calculate, weld the bones to the flesh (artwork), and create the controllers.
- Intelligent Auto-Rig
- Angela’s Auto-Rig feature has been optimized to handle complex situations. It automatically identifies the left hand, right hand, legs, and spine. In particular, Angela’s IK system allows for smooth switching to FK (IK/FK Switch). This is extremely important when the character performs complex movements, such as transitioning from walking (using IK) to swinging arms (using FK).
- Kleaner – Keyframe Cleaner
- This is the “secret weapon” that makes your animation look more professional. When you manually keyframe, the movement often feels jerky or unnatural. The Kleaner tool in Duik Angela automatically recalculates the speed graph (Graph Editor), smooths movements, adds follow-through and anticipation with just one click.
- Connector
- Want to create a facial rig? The Connector is the answer. It allows you to connect the movement of multiple attributes (e.g., raised eyebrows, wide eyes, smiling mouth) to a single slider (Master Controller). Instead of adjusting 10 layers, you only need to drag one slider to change the character’s expression.
- Camera Tool
- Few people realize that Duik Angela is also a great camera management tool. It helps you create complex 3D camera rigs, allowing you to easily control focus, angle of view, and handheld shake without creating tons of Null Objects.
