OpenFlows WaterCAD
OpenFlows WaterCAD is a water network simulation and analysis software developed by Bentley Systems, specialized in the field of infrastructure engineering and water resources management.
This software supports engineers to simulate hydraulic operations, analyze pressure, flow, and optimize water supply systems in projects ranging from small residential areas to complex urban networks.
WaterCAD is not only a flow simulation tool but also a comprehensive platform for evaluating operational efficiency, checking pressure losses, simulating failures, and supporting decision-making in sustainable water network design. See more PLAXIS 2D 3D
Features OpenFlows WaterCAD
- Realistic water supply system simulation
- WaterCAD accurately simulates the operation of the system including pipes, pumps, valves, tanks, water towers and consumption connections.
- Users can observe the pressure and flow changes in real time (Extended Period Simulation), helping to analyze fluctuations during peak hours or pump outages.
- Strong connection with CAD and GIS software
- WaterCAD can integrate directly with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS, helping designers work directly on geographic maps, import topographic data, and synchronize real-world network systems.
- Intuitive, user-friendly interface
- With a clear 2D graphical interface, WaterCAD allows drag-and-drop objects (pipes, tanks, pumps, valves) directly onto the drawing.
- The charts and results are displayed visually in the form of colors, graphs and pressure maps.
- Energy and operating cost analysis
- The Energy Cost Analysis feature helps engineers evaluate the power consumption of the pumping station, determine the optimal solution in terms of operating costs and equipment life.
- Simulate incidents and emergencies
- Users can simulate pipe bursts, pump failures, or sudden valve closures to assess the impact on the entire network – this is an important tool in risk management and system safety.
Applications of OpenFlows WaterCAD in practice
- Urban water supply system design
- The software is used in the project planning, engineering design and construction stages to determine pipe diameters, pump capacities, tank locations and appropriate operating parameters.
- Upgrading and expanding existing networks
- As cities expand or water demand increases, WaterCAD helps simulate expansion options, identifying nodes that need to be strengthened or renovated without affecting the entire system.
- Daily operations management
- Water utilities can use WaterCAD to monitor and optimize network operations, detect problems, plan maintenance, or evaluate the quality of water supply services.
- Education and research
- WaterCAD is widely used in technical universities, research institutes on hydraulics, water supply and drainage, and urban infrastructure – as a standard academic simulation model.
